Sat., 8 am to 11:30 am

Sun., 1 pm to 4:30 pm

Apheresis Technician

BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:

To perform all blood collection processes on donors to enhance the well being of our community by providing safe, adequate and economical supply of blood products.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assist in determining potential donor's health history suitability. Evaluate potential donor’s eligibility by verification of vein status in both antecubital areas. Ensure correct identification of donor and recheck all information forms for accuracy and completeness.

· Perform all aspects of blood collection of donors, included but not limited to: maintaining high customer service, verifying all information of donor, perform sterile scrub and venipuncture, drawing blood, quality checks and monitor all donors during the phlebotomy process.

· Perform Apheresis procedures and quality control checks for equipment.

· Advise team leader and/ or supervisor of noticeable complications that may jeopardize the health of donor and quality of product.

· Perform post phlebotomy care, proper disposition of unit, and give post care instructions to each donor.

·Demonstrate a high level of customer service, team work, professionalism and confidentiality to both donor and co workers.


EDUCATION:

Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) with state license.


EXPERIENCE:

Prefer at least 1 year of experience as LPN or MLT with knowledge of theory and principles of donor screening, phlebotomy, basic first aid, CPR, and general nursing care. Basic computer experience, familiar with Microsoft office suite.
